The Writers of the Future Contest is open for entries.

Submission Guidelines

• Enter a short story in science fiction, fantasy, or light horror.
• Up to but not exceeding 17,000 words.
• AI is not accepted.
• Professionals cannot apply.

Entry fee: Free to enter

Prizes:

• Prizes of $1,000, $750 and $500 are awarded every three months.
• From the four quarterly 1st Place winners each year, a panel of judges select one story as the grand prize winner.
• The writer of the grand-prize-winning story receives the L. Ron Hubbard Golden Pen Award and an additional $5,000 cash prize.

Deadline: The Contest year has four quarters: October 1st to December 31st; January 1st to March 31st; April 1st to June 30th; and July 1st to September 30th.
