The Writer’s College Short Story Competition is open for entries.
Submission Guidelines
- The theme is ‘End of the Line’. The phrase must appear in the story.
- Open to unpublished writers or those with fewer than four publications, from any country.
- Story length: Maximum 2,000 words.
Judges: Sonny Whitelaw, Andrew Salomon and Arja Salafranca.
Entry fee: Free entry deadline: 31 May 2026 (midnight, UTC). Paid entry period: After 31 May, a £ 8.00 entry fee applies.
Prizes:
- 1st: NZ$1,000 and publication in an anthology of winning stories
- 2nd: NZ$ 500 and publication in an anthology of winning stories
- 3rd: NZ$ 250 and publication in an anthology of winning stories
