Storylines Tessa Duder Award is open for 2025 submissions.

Submission Guidelines

• The award is open to all New Zealand writers.
• Open to unpublished work of fiction for young adults aged 13 and above.
• The award is also open to a Graphic Novel manuscript.
• Word count is no more than 75,000 words and should be noted on the title page.

Judges: Three representatives of Storylines, including Tessa Duder, and three representatives from Allen & Unwin.

Entry fee: $40 (non-member) / $20 (member)

Prizes: The winner will be publicly acknowledged at the Storylines Margaret Mahy National Awards Day and receive $500.

Deadline: 31st October, 2025.
