Auckland Council Libraries’ Taiohi Writing Competition is open for submissions.

Submission Guidelines

• (Young people aged 13-18) across Tāmaki Makaurau.
• Entries can be a short story, a personal reflection or an essay.
• Write between 500 and 2000 words.

Judge: Tessa Duder

Entry fee: Free to enter

Prizes: 10 finalists will receive a $250 gift card and have their work published in an anthology.

Deadline: 1 February 2026
