About The Tutor

Kelly Ana Morey
Kelly Ana Morey is an award winning writer of both fiction and non-fiction. She is currently on the last stages of her sixth novel and has also written two social histories and a memoir. Her first novel Bloom won the Hubert Church Award for First Fiction in 2004 and won the Todd New Writers’ Award. Her second Grace is Gone was a finalist in the international Kiriyama Award for Fiction in 2004 and her most recent novel Daylight Second was published in NZ, Australia, USA and Canada and was a finalist in both the NZ Heritage Book Award and the Maori Book Awards. She was the inaugural winner of the Janet Frame Award for Fiction in 2005 and was awarded the Sargeson Fellowship in 2023. Her short stories have short listed for the Katherine Mansfield and Sargeson Short Story Awards and recently she was third in the open category of the Sunday Star-Times Short Story competition. Morey reviews books and writes feature articles and essays for a number of publications including the NZ Listener. In 2023 she was a finalist
