With Luisa Plaja. Starting 07/04/2021

Start Date: 7th April 2021 – FULL

Our courses are in huge demand and are filling up very quickly, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

This online creative writing course for teenagers fits in with the student’s timetable, as you don’t need to be online at a specific time or day. You will receive weekly notes and assignments over the course of six weeks. Your tutor will read every assignment and provide written feedback on the weekly assignments.

WEEK ONE – Getting Started
Why write? Where does the spark of inspiration come from? What makes an intriguing story premise? Learn how to face the blank page and fill it with bright ideas of your own.
WEEK TWO – Building character
Create the recipe for a great character. What are your characters’ hopes, dreams and fears? How can you make fictional people seem real? Why should readers care about them?
WEEK THREE – Location, location…
What makes a setting come to life? How can you immerse your reader in your story world? Look at how to use the five senses and select the details you need for your description.
WEEK FOUR – We need to talk about dialogue
Find out how to write conversation and interior monologue that sounds realistic and drives your story forward. Learn how to handle speech tags and convey point of view effectively.
WEEK FIVE – The plot thickens
Explore the basics of natural storytelling and plot structure. Learn how to hook your reader and keep them engaged until the final page.
WEEK SIX – What happens next? Your questions answered
Think about the next steps for you and your work. Learn about editing, proofreading and polishing your words. Discover answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about writing, including your own.
