Week 1: Introduction, Finding Ideas and Observation
This module introduces ideas about how to begin your writing journey and how to find inspiration to be able to write.
Week 2: Characterisation
This module explores the various aspects of a character, including physical details, psychological details, different forms of conflict, character transformation, and the ‘show, don’t tell’ rule.
Week 3: Point of View
This module focuses on how to write in the first person, third person limited and third person omniscient. It will also look at other factors that will help strengthen your narrative.
Week 4: Plot and Endings
This module examines plots and endings, with a particular emphasis on inciting incidents, writing a solid ending, and how to avoid cliches.
Week 5: Dialogue and Setting
This module highlights the importance of dialogue in our writing, and how setting can affect our characters.
Week 6: Revising and Getting Published
The final module explores the importance of revision, before going into detail with tips and tricks regarding the publishing world.
